Recruitment of skilled workers from Japan

There will be a qualification test to recruit skilled workers. Agencies sending workers to Japan say Japan is set to resume this year to recruit Burmese skilled workers. The last qualification test for skilled workers was last held in 2019 and has been suspended until now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An agency official said Japan was preparing to retake the exams because of the need for skilled workers in industries such as construction, hotels, and the elderly.

"The Japanese business community has said it will do it again this year, so agencies and training schools are preparing for it," he said. Japan used to use the term "trainee" and only introduced a new policy on hiring foreign workers in 2019. The policy stipulates the certification of skills in each field of work. The certificate holder will be able to work as a skilled worker in conjunction with an agency authorized to send workers to Japan.
Burmese workers stopped working in Japan due to the COVID-19 epidemic and will be able to return earlier this year. At present, both trainees and skilled workers are visiting.
